Albert showed an early interest in art and painted as a hobby throughout his early years. He was accepted as an art major at the State University College at Buffalo, New York. As an undergraduate he studied for a semester at the University of Siena, Siena, Italy. After graduating with a degree in liberal arts, Albert joined the Peace Corps and served in Korea for two years. While there he studied brush and ink with a Korean master artist. Upon returning to the US, he completed a Master of Arts degree at Columbia University and then began painting botanical art at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden where many of his plant portraits have been exhibited.

Albert continued his art studies at Long Island University where several of his photographs were exhibited at the Selena Gallery. His work has also been exhibited at The 70th Street Gallery off Madison Avenue in Manhattan, at the 1999 Botanical Art Exhibition at the Northern Westchester Center for the Arts in Mount Kisco, New York and in 2005 Albert exhibited at the 57th Tinicum Arts Festival in Erwinna, PA. Albert is a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, the American Society of Botanical Artists and was recently elected to the Brooklyn Watercolor Society.

Albert says,

"The majesty of God can be found in the humblest of flowers."
